Visual Artist MARIANNE BARCELLONA grew up in Dallas, earned her B.A. from Oberlin College, and then moved to New York City, where for years she enjoyed a successful career as an editorial photographer, traveling the globe on assignment for major magazines, corporations, cultural institutions, and humanitarian organizations.
In the late 1990’s she temporarily set aside her photography to focus on her personal art and earned a 3-year Certificate in Painting from The New York Studio School. Since then she has managed dual photography and fine art careers, led intensive professional workshops in drawing and landscape collage, and been invited for eight consecutive years to present Visiting Artist Master Classes to Harvard University’s incoming freshmen.
Barcellona has been awarded Painting and Collage Fellowships at ten internationally-renowned artist residencies, and her work has been included in over 80 exhibitions. Her extensive travels and photographic experiences provide the raw inspiration for her work. Currently, she lives in Manhattan and maintains her studio in Long Island City.
